If walls had ears!

If walls had ears!

There was a time when my words had a flow,

But deep inside me I felt inertly hollow,

As the world’s ears had something else to follow,

Slowly my words withered and turned shallow,

Feeling miserable, I hid my words in a vanishing burrow,

I wished if the invisible walls beneath had ears to follow,

To wake my words to bring back the bygone flow…

  • Burning Down the Flora and Fauna

    Burning my heart,

Man, you killed part of me with the fires.

    Standing motionless in time,

The half burnt baby kangaroo never complained.

When the fires spread across the forest,

We watched it and just watched it.

When the wildfires torched the mother nature,

Billions of muted flora and fauna rested in peace.

A.R. Rahman’s Thiruda Thiruda – 20 Years Down the Lane

Throwback to the days of Thiruda Thiruda: 27 years

    People and Hearts

Twenty years ago, in the month of October, India witnessed a revolution in Indian Music through the launch of A.R Rahman’s album Thiruda Thiruda.

Thiruda Thiruda Thiruda Thiruda (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

As a six-year old in 1993, I was stunned to hear a song – Konjam Nilavu, played on the Radio. I’ve never heard such a kind of song in the Indian music sphere. The song was very unique. From the techno beats, high-pitch singing, singer, everything was new for me at least. A R Rahman had cast a magic spell with this song.

A R Rahman changed the way people viewed Indian Music with Thiruda Thiruda. The album has a cult fan following ever since its release. The album included six songs of different genre and each one was a classic. This was the beginning that Indian Music was waiting for. Splendid music combined with innovation was the…

…The days are becoming darker and shorter, and the cold breeze of the winter that is coming fast warns us all, the homeless people, that it is time to find the right shelters, because winter in the north Europe can be extremely harsh and deadly, if you are not protected well against the cold, rain and snow. And especially against the cold wind, the real enemy of our sensitive and partly damaged immune system.

But where to find the real and permanent shelters when there is no such thing, at least not here in the capital od Scandinavia, frozen tomb of Stockholm. Problem that we all homeless and unemployed, foreigners as well as locals, have to take into consideration is that there are only two available shelters here in the…

    Bellyfull Bites

Almonds are a good source of protein. This butter can be consumed guilt free as it doesn’t contain any added oil or sugar. Even kids who are hesitant to eat whole nuts will definitely love this butter. It can be used as spreads on bread, rotis, biscuits or it can be enjoyed as it is. Without any further delay let’s go take a look at how to make this quick and delicious almond butter.

    • 2 cups almonds
    • 4 Tbsp honey
    • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
    • 1/4 tsp salt

    1. Dry roast the almonds until they turn crispy and fragrant. If using an oven, evenly spread the almonds on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and toast for about 10 mins at 200 ° C.

    2. Allow it to cool. Once cooled, transfer it to a mixer jar or food processor and pulse it for a few seconds till it…

Freedom of Information – A Distant Dream

The world was changing and it tilted to a certain degree that you didn’t notice it happening. The unseen and unheard history of the world was projected onto the public walls for the first time ever.

Someone had the balls to pull the trigger and publish a treasure trove of classified documents on the internet. The year 2010 gave life to public disclosure through Julian Assange (WikiLeaks).

It is about to be a decade and still the world government fears this man who became a revolutionary whistleblower of the 21st century. Now, we hear that he is arrested!

Freedom of information is a still distant dream.

Why is information classified still and why can’t common people have access to it without restriction?

    Feel Absolute Transcendence

    Lose Vanity – Sage

Right from birth the child starts acquiring knowledge, through observation, teaching, reading, writing, and by experience. Life in a way is to get enlightened of knowledge.

Fortunately one gets knowledge through parents, teachers, friends, community, books and discourses. The knowledge makes the person known in the society and shall bring him respect and laurels too. At the same time, it also brings with it, vanity into the person.

Most fortunate are those who are blessed and are able to get enlightened of absolute transcendent knowledge.

A little acquisition of knowledge brings with it such vanity; we can just imagine what sort it would be, when a person acquires the transcendent knowledge. So, a person when gets such knowledge he is called a scholar, teacher, pundit, scientist, intellectual, philosopher or a guide. But, he cannot or shall not be an…

Patience and Endurance – a Revival Technique

There’s nothing wrong losing a battle or a game. Here, a battle can be compared to a person fighting an incurable disease in real life! A game can be compared to a person or an animal struggling for the survival of its existence.

Losing or failing is not a bad thing! But losing your self belief is something to be bothered about. A defeat or setback can make you stronger both emotionally and physically, provided if you still have belief in your inner strengths.

Let’s revisit the quote from the movie, Batman Begins (2005).

“Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.” – Alfred

There is greatness in a fall or defeat. A defeat teaches you more than a school education. To rise from a setback, a revival technique is essential to be adopted.

The Revival Technique can be put down as:

    1. Fall – You are crushed and beaten. You have to start all again from the bottom.
    2. Acknowledge – You have to acknowledge yourself that you have been defeated and it was not all that easy this time. But always remind yourself that you have not been crushed completely. Today or yesterday was a bad day. But there is always a dawn after a night.
    3. Pump up – Find inspiration from any source that gives you a thumping burst of positive energy. Search for your own sources of inspiration and stay with the flow.
    4. Find the courage -If you had found your inspiration, now it is time for setting up some courage to back you.
    5. Stay calm and practice patience We have seen this in the movie, The Shawshank Redemption (1994). The protagonist remains calm and works his way around with enough patience till the end. Your time will come but keep working hard for it.
    6. Endure the pain To achieve greatness, sometimes you might have to endure a little pain. But that’s all worth the pain. Endurance talks more about the mental and emotional strength. You cannot be defeated completely unless you allow it.
    7. Plan the hit Planning is another part of the revival technique. Planning your execution is mandatory before you execute. You have all the time for your planning. So make the most of it.
    8. Strike while the iron is hot! – Doing justice to this saying, execute your plan at the right time. You know it when it’s time. You will know it.

You must rise after your fall. You will rise for sure. The revival technique will work definitely. And the revival technique is working…

This magical wall makes me crave for my childhood,
Narrating its own story in lyrical style,
The magical wall touches my heart poetically,
Syncing like a rainbow of silent paintings and talkative poems.

This magical wall amazes me about its soulful tree,
    Treasuring countless memories of photographs,
The magical wall holds the fallen leaves close to its heart,

    Did We Change?

Over the years“, that is a cliche’ for sure! But it has really been years and there is no other better way to start it.

Time has just rolled on like a ball all the way down to the ground from the hill.

Here I’m the ball and the hill represents the people.

And there is the time that smiles at me with a smirk.

The path that stands in between me and the hill is the “Change“.

The ball carried a few stones, leaves and dust with it.

And I consider the stones, leaves and dust as my treasures.

    Did we change?

That wasn’t just a poem. It had a story in it. Here, I’m referring “we” as you, me, us, the reader, and anyone whom we can connect to.

Yes we did change. We are bound to change as time goes on. Suddenly, we feel that the things that looked great before, are not great anymore. Mind you! It is just a feeling. And the things that looked awful once looks cool now.

    Ah ha…

What has happened to us now. Did we change?

Yes, I think we have changed. Time has a penchant to make us feel that people around us have changed.

But the reality is that we have changed.

It is a good feeling to know that life has really changed. Even my writing has changed over the years. My words have changed. And so is the world.

My feelings have changed. My outlook has changed. My priorities have changed. My life has changed.

When you read this, do you feel that you have changed, when you look back? If so, do comment on…

My confidence to fly to the distant corners has dwindled,

My eyes have turned pale and lifeless,

My voice has lost its song,

You have turned me into a caged bird…

But something down from my heart tells me,

    I have wings,

    I can fly,

    I can sing,

    I’m a bird,

I’m waiting for my caged redemption…

    Calling Poets for Peace

Words are scarce to describe this turmoil,
    When thousand innocents bleed,
    Our hearts are torn down,
    When the little ones weep,
    Our eyes bleed tears.

Words are scarce to describe this turmoil,
When the world cries for help,
    Our knees tremble with fear,
    When the children lie lifeless,
Our humanity is questioned for its ruthlessness.

Words are scarce to describe this turmoil,
    When the souls depart,
    Our hearts seek peace,
When the world searches for peace,
Our world calls all poets for peace…

A world without masters, workers or slaves. A world full of creators and optimists.

A world that creates itself by creativity. A world with abundance of ideas to work on.

A world that doesn’t rely on money. A world that doesn’t need success. A world of it’s own.

    Someday, Somewhere and Someone

Voids, losses, failures, sorrows, draught, famine, hunger, breakups, deaths, injuries, depression and loneliness all are synonymous with unfortunate things in life. Dealing with these odd things are difficult. You know it and I know it. But…

Even the unfortunate happenings have an expiry date!

I’ve realized few things in life through personal experience. I’m no scholar to tell you all these. But…

Life is the best teacher everyone knows. So this is how it goes…

Time is the answer for everything in life. There is dawn after night. Time is the healer.  We need a dark sky for the stars to sparkle.

The wait is worth living for. The wait and the patience spent for that one day is worth living for.

While we sleep we think that there is only darkness in a sleep. But always remember, dreams are born during a sleep.

I hope it describes everything better.

    Wait for that day.

Your life will change someday, somewhere and with someone.

    Wait for that day.

Flooded Chennai Tamil Nadu – Help People Mutually

Hello my dear readers and friends,

Please read this article for heaven’s sake! A humble request…

This is no nonsense promotional blog post.

I’m Anoop, the author of the blog People and Hearts, who is from Chennai, India. You guys would have read or heard about Chennai and its dreaded floods in the media by now.

I’m a victim of this flood. I have witnessed and still witnessing the sufferings of people affected by the Floods in Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

Flooded Chennai and Tamil Nadu –

I’m writing on behalf of the people who are crying, craving and begging for food, shelter, clothes and blankets. The list of people includes pregnant women, infants, children, old people and many more. These people have few necessities. I will list it down.

    • Pregnant women – Thousands of pregnant women are stuck up in many houses who are unable to move out and are struggling for food. Only few have been able to be rescued by the Indian Air Force by helicopters and other NGO’s. You are now able to understand it better now.
    • Hungry children who have lost their school textbooks and clothes –  Yes, these children have lost their textbooks, clothes and all learning aids. They are made to wait and crave for food.
    • Crying elderly people – Why do they have to undergo all these cruelties.

    • People begging for food – These people who are begging for food today had cars and lived in a fully furnished AC apartment with luxury. Yes, they have lost their passports and credit cards too in the floods. They have only one pair of dress that they are wearing now. They left everything inside their home and walked onto the streets to get food for them as well as for their family. There are people who are waiting in the terrace of their homes expecting people will drop food packets to them.
    • People begging for clothes – You know how to hide your body and the value of a dress. These people need clothes to wear today because their clothes were lost in the floods. And trust me they are begging when rescuers are coming to help them.

There are so many people out there in this world. The NGO’s and rescue team can’t reach out to all the people out there. But we can. If we help each other mutually with what we have, we can bring a great relief for the ailing wounds.

Yes we can make this happen. Please do your small help that can be a great relief for the needy ones.

Please try to help each other mutually.

I hope this article would have made you to think that you are a human being. Yes I believe that my words would do some magic inside you.

    Lessons Learned from Chennai Floods

These words are coming out of me at the time of an ongoing natural disaster in Chennai, India. Life has changed for many people in the last few days when Chennai has been flooded badly.

I have seen a large number of people with benevolent hearts who have come up to offer their help to the needy. They are not people with great super powers. They are normal people just like you and me. But they are the ones who make the difference.

You might be rich and have all the fortunes to buy happiness. But when the rains have washed away all your money and occupied your home, you are left with nothing. Only people can help you. Not the money and your fortunes.

There are people with good hearts to help the struggling ones who they know nothing about. Good people too exist in this world. That’s why still the Earth is a nice place to live on.

At the same time, there are people with wicked ideas who are ready to utilize the situation. When people are suffering for food and shelter, some shopkeepers sell milk, drinking water and food for skyrocketing prices. They have no mercy on the struggling people.

The good and ugly side of the city and people is seen here.

But for the few good ones, people still hope for a better day soon.

Find the time and the heart to help people, at least during a natural disaster.
